Requirements and safeguards

  • Volunteers must be 18 or older for roles working directly with students; 16 and older may serve at events with a guardian present.
  • Background screening is required for all student-facing and board roles, renewed every two years.
  • All volunteers review and sign our code of conduct and child safeguarding expectations.
  • Two-adult presence is maintained in every student setting.
  • References may be requested for mentoring and board roles.

How the process works

  1. 1Submit the volunteer application
  2. 2Short conversation about fit and availability
  3. 3Background screening where the role requires it
  4. 4Role-specific training and code of conduct review
  5. 5Placement and first scheduled shift
